I was born in Haliburton, Ontario, Canada, a small town in Ontario’s Lake District, with a paddle in one hand and a crayon in the other. A love of art and design led me to a Graphic Design Diploma which then segued, for reasons I still cannot fathom, to a career as an RCMP constable (Canadian Mountie) and a Deputy Sheriff in British Columbia. The highlight of my career as a police officer included a hair-raising high speed car chase, crash, near shooting and subsequent arrest of a deranged gun-toting bank robber dressed in a clown suit.
Artistic pursuits beckoned, and I decided to return to school. I returned to college for three years, obtained diplomas in 2-D and 3-D animation, and began work in the animation and video game industry.
My first job in the animation field was at Studio B Productions in Vancouver, BC, drawing backgrounds and props for cartoons (Bob and Margaret, What About Mimi, Braceface, Something Else, etc.). Subsequently, the police-related high speed pursuits and car crashes came in handy as I went to work for Electronic Arts in Vancouver, on the "Need for Speed" series of games where I worked as an artist and also as a police consultant on NFS Most Wanted.
Next up was work as a concept artist on Mario Strikers Charged at Next Level Games in Vancouver.
Presently, I work as a concept artist at Zipper Interactive in Redmond, Washington, and have done since 2007.
I am married to a wonderful woman and we have a 5 year old son and a big rough collie. Hobbies include art, hiking, running, water-skiing, boating, chess, woodworking, carving, and reconditioning and modifying a classic Datsun 240z.
I am always looking for new challenges and continued professional growth and improvement in the entertainment and design industries.
